Biting is a common behavior among children birth to three years of age. Every effort will be made to determine the reason for a child that begins to bite other children. Parents will be notified if the biting becomes more than a "normal" situation.
When biting occurs, the teacher will record incidents and document observations to better understand the context before and after a bite. (who, what, when, how & where). Teachers will also note the location and availability of staff during the incident to ensure proper supervision is taking place. Staff members will discuss the situation and be proactive to not let the situation happen again. Staff will do everything to prevent future incidents.
On very rare occasions that the biting continues without improvements, Lil' Cubs reserves the right to ask the parent to remove the child from the program so that the parent can find another learning environment that will better meet the child's needs.
