    Our Staff

    To ensure the maximum quality care for your child, every employee at Lil’ Cubs is first aid and CPR certified, has passed a criminal record check and has no history of sustained child abuse or neglect. They have also met all education credentials, including continued education, and have passed a health assessment. On any given day, we will have an assortment of Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Nutrition Specialists, and “Floaters”. Floaters move between classrooms to ensure we stay within state mandated ratios.     Our Ratios

    Each classroom at Lil' Cubs stays at or below the state guidelines for staff to child ratios. This is required to insure the safety of each child enrolled. Lil' Cubs also employs an extra staff member each day. This extra person floats around helping on field trips, outside time, walks, messy play or just when a classroom needs that extra helping hand.

    Our Facility

    Lil’ Cubs is a 12,000 sq. foot child care center located in Nevada, IA, which is about 10 minutes east of Ames. Our facility features 10 large classrooms, a spacious eating area, hundreds of fun and educational toys, and has a large outdoor playground and bonus grass lot. We are licensed to care for up to 192 children, ranging in age from 6 months to 12 years. Our programs fall under three categories: Infants/Toddlers, Preschool, and School Age.

Our Leadership Team

    Ms. Amy | Owner

    Ms. Amy started Lil’ Cubs as a single-room preschool in 2006, and in 2014, she provided a desperately needed daycare center in Nevada, IA. Today, Lil’ Cubs is licensed to care for 192 children, and has added over 1,000 children and parents to it’s lil’ family.

    Ms. Amy is a wife, mother of three, and has over 35 years in the child care and education industry. She received her AA from Southwestern Community College, and received her Bachelors in Business Administration from Kennedy Western University.

    Ms. Abby | Director

    Ms. Abby, originally from Nevada, is a mother of two who absolutely loves working with our Lil’ Cubs! In her free time, she loves reading and playing with her own children, hiking, and watching and playing sports.

    Prior to joining the Lil’ Cubs team in 2018, Ms. Abby worked with juvenile delinquents in a residential setting for almost a decade, as well as a CPS employee for the Department of Human Services. Ms. Abby obtained her degrees in Human Services and Sociology from William Penn University.
